Class Descriptions

Each Class will
begin with a short discussion to inspire and inform you to the philosophy and
science of Classical Yoga.
CLASSICAL YOGA BASICS:
(BEGINNERS)
Perfect for the student who is just
beginning yoga. This will focus on Basic poses with an emphasis on proper
breathing, alignment and correct modifications. Classes will build on one
another creating a foundation with which you can then join any one of our
Intermediate Classes. The very personal attention and instruction provided,
establishes good habits and proper alignment from the beginning. Students learn
to develop a safe and beneficial practice. Yoga Basics is a highly interactive
program and questions are encouraged.
CLASSICAL HATHA 1:
STATIONARY (BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE)
Ideal for the Beginner with a regular practice and for the Intermediate seeking
a well rounded class. This is a stationary practice with a series of asanas
(poses), providing a deeper experience and challenging all levels. Strength,
flexibility, and balance are increased with this practice. You will access every
muscle in the body, feeling relaxed, and revitalized from head to toe.
CLASSICAL HATHA 1: CORE
INTENTIONS (BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE)
Yoga with Core Intentions focuses and relies on the breath to carry you through
a series of flowing Yoga postures. This class will also awaken and strengthen
our core muscles – the abs, back and pelvis - by focusing on strengthening
exercises for these core areas. These core exercises will be supported by our
breath. Through our own personal intentions, we can draw on our inner strength
to support and direct our practice. Over time, this class will strengthen your
core areas, which can provide the following benefits: Improved posture, strong
abdominal muscles, a strong back creates a strong foundation which energizes
your Yoga practice, and learn to utilize your breath and your whole body to
support yoga postures.
CLASSICAL HATHA 2: GENTLE
VINYASA FLOW (BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE)
Seeking a yoga experience that feels fabulous without undo strain? Your teacher
will guide those looking for a gentle, accessible and a satisfying yoga practice
by moving you in rhythm with your breathing. The practice will open the hips,
strengthen your back, relax your shoulders and neck, while developing an
awareness of self.
CLASSICAL HATHA 3: VINYASA
FLOW 1 & 2 (INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED)
Unlike many forms of yoga, Vinyasa Flow is a fast-paced, heat producing class. A
basic tenet of Vinyasa Flow is that you must be warm to stretch, only when we
are warm can we begin to develop strength and flexibility. Consistent practice
of Vinyasa Flow will create a lighter, stronger body and a clear, peaceful mind.
This class prepares you for the Ashtanga Primary Series. These juicy, flowing
vinyasa classes link postures together in a dynamic, vibrant rhythm that ebbs
and flows with the breath. Movement is the rule! FLOW 1 offers a moderate pace
with more time to explore foundation postures, great for advanced beginners and
up. FLOW 2 dials up the pace, complexity, heat and rhythm, great for strong
intermediates and up.
CLASSICAL HATHA 4: ASHTANGA
PRIMARY SERIES (INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED)
Learn the practice of the Ashtanga Primary Series, a vigorous vinyasa practice.
This class is a series of poses always in the same order and done steadily to
the rhythm of the breath. This class requires focus, control and
self-discipline. You will focus on core strength, balance and flow to build a
solid practice based on strength and spirit. Plan to break a sweat, detoxify,
tone and open your body and expand your mind. This is and intense and vigorous
class.
