Announcing Our Graduating Class of 2008

We are all so incredibly blessed with such remarkable teachers. Personally I would like to share a few things in regards to our past year together. Forgive me if I go on and on, but I have been so profoundly touched by each one of our teachers, through their openness and vulnerability, to their truth and candor, and innocence. Thank you so very much for spending this incredible year journey, and allowing me to share that with you. I love you all and know how much you have and will continue to inspire and guide your students and fellow teachers. Please read on about my thoughts feelings and insights into each teacher's personal teaching style, their gifts.

Andy ~ What a gentle soul. Do not get me wrong, Andy is challenging and fierce in his own studies and practices, but in his teaching there is such a beauty of strength through gentleness, grace through humor and deep, deep compassion. Andy is sensitive to the needs of his students and is always available to answer questions. Everyone comments on how pleasant Andy's voice is during classes. Andy is a great role model for men young, and not so young, as to the benefits that Yoga has to offer everyone, especially men.

Shay ~ Sweet, sweet Shay. Shay is a teacher that you find very interesting in her absolute depth and wisdom, but then lifted and inspired by her light. In Shays teachings she is incredibly observant and challenges her students without them feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. At the end of any class that Shay teaches you feel you have been nurtured, loved and healed. After a class with Shay, you walk out into your world ready to hug someone!

Robin ~ Awesomely radiant, glowing spirit. Watch out you may need sunglasses! Robin shines, absolutely shines. Robin's classes fill your soul, your heart, your body, and make you sing (I've been known to hum a lot after one of her classes!) Ever joyful and loving, a bright spot in your day, some students say they come to class, just to be lifted up by Robin's powerful radiance. Robin's classes are grounding and strong, yet gentle and uplifting, inspiring all around. Robin is the giver of wings, during her classes you learn how to fly!

Jenifer ~ Fierce Goddess Warrior with an angel's grace. Everyone calls her, Gentle Jen. But do not let that mislead you, she is one of the strongest people I know, and you are immediately paying attention. Soft spoken and amazingly graceful, you feel that you are carried on the ribbons of her breath, and the softness of her voice. Jen is very dedicated to her teaching and her own practices. In Jen you will meet a teacher who is truly concerned for the well-being and needs of each of her students. Access your inner Warrior in any of Jen's classes.

Britain ~ Sunshine, Rainbows, and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. And right behind that is a fierce tigress. Britain inspires you to contact your strength, a strength born out of focus, attention. You access this fierceness to remain relaxed and soft as you listen, breathe and move. You feel light expansive and loved, deeply. Britain is a very attentive teacher, able to bring each one of her students to a place that is right for each level and each body. Love radiates from Britain's fingers, toes and tips of her hair, Brilliant!

May you have great teachers in your life.
May you teach others by your presence.
May you recognize and honor all teachers.
May you recognize and honor yourself.

Namaste, my loving friends,
Melissa

Our philosophy is simple—we embrace the 5000+-year-old idea that a conscious yoga practice can transform individuals both spiritually and physically. Yoga helps us reveal the inner wisdom that is alive, uniquely, in each of us, and helps to remove obstacles to encourage that river of wisdom to freely flow.  Yoga can help make the choices that are the best for ourselves and the community around us. This, we believe, is the essential foundation for a life of fulfillment, peace and ultimately freedom. On the lighter side, yoga is fun and practicing feels wonderful and who can't use more of that!

Our mission for Love Yoga Center is to be a true reflection of all that yoga is: vibrant, purposeful, meaningful, authentic, conscious, joyful, spiritual and transforming. In doing so, our aim is to serve our community by sharing yoga, encouraging greater physical health and fulfilled spirits. We carry out our mission by:
Honoring and sharing the knowledge that comes from the various lineages of yoga and making it clear, accessible and meaningful in our present day. With a strong focus on Classical Yoga.
Providing excellent teachers who are formally certified, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in our students' needs and well-being.
Offering classes and workshops which are challenging but also nurturing and playful.
Encouraging a non-competitive, positive approach to yoga that honors each individual's unique path to physical health and well being.
Offering courses that are liberating physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Providing an inviting healthy space that welcomes creativity and encourages community.
Encouraging mindful, balanced, and healthful living on and off of the yoga mat to reduce stress and dis-“ease”.
We look for success not just in terms of the number of students who take classes at Love Yoga Center; we also measure success through the quality of our services, the satisfaction of our students and teachers and in our overall commitment to the greater community. Through studio surveys and focus groups we will seek input on:
How well Love's teachers and classes have addressed student needs and interests.
How well Love Yoga has helped students identify and follow a course in yoga suited to their unique needs.
Whether students and teachers genuinely feel part of a supportive community at Love Yoga Center.
Whether Love Yoga Center is doing as much as possible to be mindful of its environmental impact and maximize positive community contributions.

SEE WHAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY:

Love Yoga Center is such an inviting and soothing environment to practice in and learn yoga. The teacher demonstrates the variations of each pose based on skill level so I can always participate even though I am a beginner. She also makes sure each class is unique so you will always learn something new. I highly recommend this center to all my friends.
K. Smith

Love Yoga has made such an impact on my life. I have noticed a very positive shift since I began less than three months ago. It is such a gift to be able to take time out of our otherwise very busy lives to breathe, to slow down! At the same time the practice strengthens and builds stamina. The space is beautiful and nurturing and Melissa, you are a great teacher.
Thank you!
K. Moore

I have found yoga to be so much more than the physical benefits that I appreciate. Melissa makes it a time for me to get centered
mentally and spiritually, her guidance is gentle, focused and very personal to everyone participating in her classes. Do yourself a
favor and come see for yourself!
M. Mann

Yoga has helped me physically, mentally and spiritually in improving the quality of my life. Melissa is a very knowledgeable and helpful teacher. I recommend it for anyone at any age and at any stage of his or her life.
D. Cheney

Melissa’s teaching manner is a breath of honeysuckle on a spring breeze. She is sweet and wise, flexible and energetic. Her classes leave me with laughter bubbling forth and a profound sense of peace. I would kindly recommend her to anyone seeking mental,
physical, emotional and spiritual peace.
M. Evans

Love Yoga Center has shown me that yoga is a true force for personal and worldwide good. Yoga is the only thing I have found in my life that has no downside, no negative aspects. Like most of Melissa’s students would say, it has changed my life.
A. Salatto

SOME TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR TEACHER TRAINING STUDENTS:

I am currently participating in the Teacher Training studies at Love Yoga Center. It is a wonderful experience to be part of such a generous group of people. I enjoy the sharing that occurs by opening the mind, body and spirit. This time spent is special and helps me to continue learning what it means to truly ‘live’ and ‘love’ in my journey.
R. Waddell

The Teacher Training program has been a life changing experience for me. You don’t necessarily have to want to teach Yoga, as it is really a personal journey to learn about yourself. The training program gives you the tools to create a more positive, healthier way of living your life. Without even realizing it, your practice deepens, and you eventually begin sharing your experiences
with those who touch your life.
J. Keller

Melissa Henry has prepared a well structured course of study that not only prepares you to teach, but also deepens your own practice
by exploring all the facets of classical Yoga. The mix of lectures and hands on training isperfect, and Melissa has a great way of getting
people out of their comfort zones without making them feel uncomfortable. The time we spend in class is fun and time really seems to
fly by. The assignments are challenging, not only in the traditional sense way that homework is hard, but they also require you to be
introspective, to delve into your self. While I am working towards becoming a Yoga teacher, if you are serious about your Yoga practice, I recommend joining the program even if you never intend to teach a class. It's hard work, but worth it.
